No matter where one goes, the image of Vietnam is inseparable from its vast, green rice paddies—fields that carry the hopes of farmers and yield the high-quality grains of a thousand-year-old rice civilization. This agricultural heritage is a profound source of our national pride.
The Mekong Delta, Vietnam's primary rice bowl, operates on a cyclical rhythm of three distinct crops per year. This ensures a continuous supply, with each season offering unique characteristics.
The Main Harvest Seasons of the Mekong Delta
1. The Winter-Spring Crop (Vụ Đông-Xuân): The Main Harvest This is the primary and most important crop of the year, yielding the highest quantity and most premium quality rice. Planted from November to December and harvested around April, this season is renowned for producing our best varieties, including:
o Aromatic and fragrant rice
o Specialty colored rice (Black, Red, Brown)
o High-quality long-grain white rice
o The world-famous ST25 rice
Specifically, the harvest for Japonica rice (short-grain) begins in March during this peak season.
2. The Summer-Autumn Crop (Vụ Hè-Thu): This season begins in April-May and concludes with the harvest in August. It primarily features modern, short-duration rice varieties designed for quick turnover and high output, ensuring a steady supply following the main harvest.
3. The Autumn-Winter Crop (Vụ Thu-Đông): The Secondary Crop Planted around May and June and harvested in November, this is considered a secondary crop. It is cultivated only in certain regions. In many other areas, farmers let the land lie fallow (rest) during this time to recover its nutrients and prepare for the crucial Winter-Spring season ahead. Importantly, Japonica rice is not cultivated during this period.

Ensuring a Year-Round Supply
Currently, the Summer-Autumn harvest is concluding, and farmers are already preparing the fields for the upcoming Autumn-Winter crop in designated areas, or resting the land for the main season.
While the output and specific varieties fluctuate with each season, Vietnamese producers meticulously plan their cultivation schedules. This strategic planning ensures that we can provide a stable and consistent supply of high-quality rice to our valued customers and partners around the world, all year long.
